October 1973: CapFed® opened its 13th branch, but no superstition here! Emporia is a great branch, in a great community! The Emporia branch is the result of Capitol Federal's first merger with another savings and loan, the Mutual Building and Loan Association of Emporia, on October 1, 1973. Kent Manion was the first branch manager. This uniquely designed office was built in 1929 at 6th and Commercial.
