The Aaron Douglas Art Fair, inspired by the completion of the Aaron Douglas Celebration Mural, has been an annual event since 2006. The Fair was created to provide a one-day classic art fair environment to showcase diverse and emerging artists, to celebrate community and to continue the legacy of world-renowned Topeka-born artist Aaron Douglas. The fair is fully organized by a dynamic, all volunteer-run board and assisting community volunteers. Admission and all activities are free. Each year there are 30 to 50 artist booths – selectively chosen by our Art Director – our main stage with live music, our Legacy Stage in front of the Aaron Douglas mural highlighting an assortment of diverse artistic performances, our Kids Zone tent offering art activities geared towards children, an interactive art activity for all fair-goers, and food booths hosted by neighborhood groups offering a variety of food options for sale.
