Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. It marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. In June 2021, Congress passed a resolution establishing Juneteenth as a national holiday, and President Biden signed it into law on June 17, 2021.

• JuneteenthKC, where they celebrated 15 young ladies in the first annual Becoming Miss JuneteenthKC Pageant. JuneteenthKC provided pageant participants education, tools, and resources to help build resilience in addition to gaining confidence to make healthy lifestyle choices while developing positive lifelong peer relationships from girls across the Greater Kansas City community!
