June 17, 1976: Capitol Federal® moved into a new market 110 miles west of the Home Office. Located in the Mid State Mall Shopping Center, the Salina branch became the first branch with a new architectural design concept. Kent Manion served as the first manager. Declared "An All-American City", Salina is the largest city near the geographic center of the United States.
