TOPEKA, KS—The Shawnee County Board of Commissioners recognized Capitol Federal® as the “Title Sponsor” of the 2026 Spirit of Kansas fireworks display during a check presentation ceremony at the May 7, 2026 Board of County Commission meeting.
Capitol Federal Chief Executive Officer John B. Dicus and Capitol Federal Foundation® President Tammy Dishman presented the $35,000 check to Shawnee County Commissioners Kevin Cook, Aaron Mays, and Bill Riphahn, along with Shawnee County Parks + Recreation staff.
This is the 24th year Capitol Federal has sponsored the Spirit of Kansas fireworks display.
The Spirit of Kansas is an annual Independence Day celebration held each year on July 4 at Lake Shawnee. The event concludes with a spectacular fireworks display made possible by Capitol Federal.
