Staci McDade understands the importance of supporting local businesses and volunteering in the community. In addition to being the Assistant Branch Manager at the Capitol Federal® branch in Derby, Staci also serves as a Board Member of the Derby Chamber of Commerce as its Secretary/Treasurer. The Derby Chamber of Commerce supports and partners with organizations to create a collaborative and cooperative effort toward fulfilling the mission of providing opportunities for businesses to succeed while maintaining a sense of community. Recently, we sat down with Staci to discuss her work with the Derby Chamber of Commerce and other roles she has in the community.

Talk a bit about how you became involved with the Derby Chamber of Commerce.

I became involved in the Derby Chamber of Commerce when I started working at CapFed® almost five years ago.  I started attending some of the events and luncheons. Later, I became an ambassador, which meant I attended ribbon cuttings and welcomed new businesses to the community. This allowed me to network with area Business Leaders and Professionals around the community. I became a Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce and then was nominated to be the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board.

How does the Derby Chamber of Commerce give back to the community?

The Derby Chamber of Commerce adds value to all the businesses that are part of the Chamber of Commerce by hosting luncheons, ribbon cuttings, after hours events, fundraisers, discount days and more. I’d like to see the chamber continue to grow, by adding more businesses and growing a better network community.  Any way to help our community and businesses grow is a win for the Derby Community. We want to provide opportunities for businesses to succeed.

What is the most memorable experience you have from your time with the Derby Chamber of Commerce?

The most memorable experiences would be from volunteering at events.  We have a lot of employees at Capitol Federal that love to volunteer at the Taste of Derby. I was able to attend a sneak peek opening of the new Dinosaur Park, and my son loved being able to attend the event and tell people he was the first. Recently, I was able to get a board game sponsorship. The Derby Chamber is releasing a Monopoly game called Derby-Opoly, it’s all about the city of Derby featuring businesses, slogans, pictures of Derby over the years.  Capitol Federal will get to be on all the money for the game.

How does your role at Capitol Federal® impact your role in the community?

As an Assistant Branch Manager in a newer branch, it was vital to build the business and to be known in the community.  It was important to network with area businesses to become a referral source for people in the community. I am thankful Capitol Federal allows me time to be a part of the Derby Chamber.

How else are you involved in the community?

I was involved in LEAD Derby, which is a leadership class the Derby Chamber of Commerce started in 2014. The program was started to help grow current and future leaders in the Derby Community. My class was the first in the program, and I continue to sit on the committee to help develop the program. I am also a part of the McConnell Action Group, which helps support the men, women and families at McConnell Air Force Base. Lastly, I am also currently on the volunteer committee here at Capitol Federal. Being involved and helping the community is a passion of mine.

Thank you for being a great Ambassador for Derby and CapFed, Staci.
