Olathe Branch - I-35 and Santa Fe

In October 1973, Capitol Federal opened its eleventh office, a one-story building just three blocks west of I-35 on Sante Fe Street. The area around the branch was mostly open fields, leading to some good-natured teasing about the "blue brick building out in the country." Larry Brubaker, the branch manager, was even gifted a pair of overalls during the open house to mark the rural location. This location is very much - in the city - today! Despite the playful ribbing, the branch thrived, and fun fact: "Olathe" means "beautiful" in the Shawnee language!
