1954: Mission Branch became Capitol Federal's first branch in the greater Kansas City metro area. Known as the "Pioneer of Johnson County", it was first managed by longtime Capitol Federal® employee - later Chief Lending Officer and board member - Bob Maupin. It was temporarily located in a building with an ice cream parlor next door and a dance studio upstairs. Bob said, "During weekdays and especially Saturday afternoons, when dance lessons were at their peak, we thought the ceiling would fall in!"
