Downtown Manhattan Branch

On December 21, 1971, Capitol Federal expanded westward, opening its ninth office and the first in Manhattan, Kansas, at the corner of 14th and Poyntz. Over the next 40 years, the branch would see only three managers—Spencer Puls, Penny Nelson, and Peggy Frazier—each leaving their mark on its legacy. The building itself, a 2,700-square-foot structure, stands out with its striking design, featuring pre-cast concrete panels and distinctive blue-glazed bricks that have become a signature of its presence in the community.
