Endurance – while we recognize, and even celebrate it, we often overlook what it takes to achieve it.  Take for example, in 1893, the 15 men who formed our very first savings and loan who wanted to help customers protect their savings while assisting them in reaching the American Dream of homeownership. They built their mission on the core values and principles of strength, security and stability.

What is remarkable is that the entire country was deep in the 1893 Financial Panic when Capitol Federal began.  Across America, major employers had gone out of business, two railroads were bankrupt and unemployment was near 20%.  However, the founders of CapFed® knew they could give customers a safe place to keep their money while offering quality home loans.  Despite the conditions of the day, CapFed thrived by remaining true to itself and the principles of strength, security and stability.

Now, 129 years later, Capitol Federal continues the traditions from 1893.  I’m proud of our history and thankful you have decided to place your trust in Capitol Federal as we move into the future together. There is no higher compliment.  While the Bank has expanded to include business banking and commercial lending, along with our trust and wealth management services, CapFed remains committed to being your friendly, local community bank.  We look forward to being strong, secure and stable for you, your family, your business and your community for generations to come.
