Weathering an economic downturn is part of the normal market cycle.  There will always be peaks and valleys, but knowing your money is in a safe and secure place can bring comfort, as it has to many Capitol Federal® customers through the years.  With nearly 130 years of experience, and having withstood many economic environments, Capitol Federal is well positioned for whatever we may face ahead.

Looking back at history is an excellent way to prepare for the future.  I’m proud of Capitol Federal’s experience, knowledge and perspective, because this sets us apart and makes ready the Bank for turbulence in the financial markets.  Not only did CapFed® persevere through World War I and World War II, we grew from a $2 million company to a $25 million company during that time.  Then, throughout the Savings and Loan crisis of the 1980s and 1990s, Capitol Federal continued to strengthen and reached $4 billion in assets.

The 2008 housing crisis brought down many establishments, but Capitol Federal maintained our tradition of serving customers fairly and without turning to the risky trends of the era.  Sticking to those principles allowed us to not only survive, but proved that doing things the right way will keep us and our customers moving forward.  Now, Capitol Federal is honored to be one of the most reputable banks in the Midwest with nearly $10 billion in assets, and we continue to serve our communities with the same core values of strength, security and stability as we have throughout our existence.

I’m proud of our history, and I hope that looking back upon how the Bank has endured, survived and thrived through all types of economic conditions, reassures you and the future doesn’t seem so uncertain.  We will always strive to be the best institution for you, your family and your business.  Thank you for your trust, and loyalty, in CapFed as we remain True Blue® strong for generations to come.
