CAPITOL FEDERAL® DONATES $1,000 TO OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH;

$500 TO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES & FEED NORTHLAND KIDS

TOPEKA, Kan. – Through a partnership with Kansas City Mom Collective, Capitol Federal® held a ‘Savings & Giving Event’ to teach the importance of saving and charitable giving to children.  Across its 25 Greater Kansas City branch locations, customers were invited to vote for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City, Feed Northland Kids or Operation Breakthrough, and the non-profit which received the most votes would receive a $1,000 prize.

At a check presentation ceremony, Capitol Federal and KC Mom Collective representatives presented the winning $1,000 check to Operation Breakthrough.  However, CapFed® decided to donate $500 to both Feed Northland Kids and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City for their participation in the event.

Michael Dwyer, North Oak Branch Manager for Capitol Federal said, “Saving for the future is an important thing to do at any age, and instilling the habit of saving from an early age is especially critical.  By partnering with KC Mom Collective, we were able to reach a whole new generation and allow them to learn about the importance of saving, as well as the importance of giving back to their communities.  Philanthropy is part of the CapFed corporate philosophy, and the Bank is overjoyed to donate funds to all three worthy non-profits.”

“Giving back to our community is one of the most important values parents can instill in their children while teaching them financial literacy,” said Sarah McGinnity, owner of Kansas City Mom Collective. “We were excited to partner with Capitol Federal for this summer savings event as a fun way to introduce the concepts of saving, spending responsibly and giving back. Seeing kids' excitement for supporting local organizations was especially rewarding.”

Operation Breakthrough said, “We are so thankful to KC Mom Collective, Capitol Federal and all of the families and children that voted for Operation Breakthrough!  Because of you, we are able to help more families in the Kansas City area!”

Congratulations to all who helped make the CapFed Savings & Giving Event a success.
