Please be aware of scammers spoofing our phone number and impersonating Capitol Federal Fraud employees. The scammers are contacting customers both by phone and by text messages. According to multiple reports, the scammers will tell customers they can confirm the number they are calling from is truly Capitol Federal’s by Googling the number, where they find it really is our number. The scam then starts by the scammers trying to verify transactions based out of other states. They could have customer’s personal information which has included names, address, social security number, and/or partial card numbers. Customers who've received text messages are being sent a link which then takes the customer to a website to enter their card information or online banking credentials. Others are being asked to click on a link and enter their card numbers in which then fraudulent activity begins to occur with their cards.

If a true Capitol Federal Fraud employee or our third-party Visa® fraud service is contacting you, we will provide our direct phone numbers or the call center number to contact us back. We will never ask for and/or provide personal information other than verifying a recent transaction. DO NOT enter any of your sensitive personal banking information into any website for which you've been sent a link in a text message. If you are concerned whether a call is truly legitimate you may always visit any branch to verify.

If you feel you have provided information to someone in error, please call 1-888-822-7333.
