Capitol Federal® Foundation Grants Boys & Girls Clubs of Kansas $700,000 to Reach Youths During Coronavirus

March 20, 2020

During the unprecedented time when school districts and Boys & Girls Clubs are closed, our priority continues to be the health, safety and education of Kansas youth across the State. We understand the complications that result when the doors of our schools and our Clubs are closed, and we are here to offer solutions for Kansas youth, and their families, throughout these challenging times.

Armed with a generous $700,000 grant from Capitol Federal Foundation®, our partner in doing ‘Whatever It Takes to Build Great Futures’, we will be on the front lines reaching youth who need us most across Kansas with essentials during this trying time that include:
• Partnering with school districts to respond to the gaps that exist in meal service provision i.e. dinner and weekend service, breakfast, lunch and snacks that align with USDA nutritional                    guidelines to those not reached by community and district meal programs. Door-to-door service to reach those youth/teens and their families where transportation is a barrier
• Themed and DIY activities and supplies for the week that will include kits dedicated to academic enrichment, STEM, art, character development and more • Nutritional and healthy habits                and recipes
• Resources to help parents keep their child engaged while at home
• Updated resource list and contacts for health and social service available
• Food Pantry access and delivery service for those youth/teens whose families have transportation barriers

Capitol Federal® CEO John B. Dicus said, “During these unique circumstances, investing in our future is a top priority. Capitol Federal has always been a proud supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs across our communities and fully support the work they do for families. This grant will positively impact children by concentrating on those most in need. We are thankful for the efforts of Boys & Girls Clubs of Kansas for supporting, educating, entertaining and nourishing the children in our communities during this crisis.”

Our Clubs stand united in serving over 43,157 youth and teens who need us most, and we are grateful for the footing that Capitol Federal and the Capitol Federal Foundation has provided for us to continue our impact. There has never been a more important time than now for our children and the future of Kansas.
