What is Investing

  • Simply put, investing is a way to loan your money to someone who will pay you so they can use it.
  • As the prices of items you buy increase (inflation), it takes more money to purchase these things.
  • If you invest your money now, you expect to earn more money later to at least keep up with inflation, if not make a little bit more.
  • If you let your money sit on your desk, in a drawer or buried in box in your back yard, it won't increase with inflation, and you won't be able to buy as much "stuff" later on.
