Joe Oberzan Retires From Capitol Federal

John B. Dicus, Chairman of Capitol Federal Savings, Topeka, recently announced the retirement of Vice President - Branch Manager Joe Oberzan on January 19th. He has served the Bank for nearly 42 years. A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Oberzan earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration from Fort Hays State University in 1965. After two years in the U.S. Marine Corps with active duty in Vietnam, he joined Capitol Federal as a loan officer trainee in March of 1968. During his many years of service, Oberzan held the positions of Assistant Cashier, Assistant Vice President and Vice President. He has served as Branch Manager at Capitol Federal’s Downtown Lawrence branch at 11th and Vermont and currently manages its West Lawrence branch at Iowa and Harvard, as well as the location inside the Dillon’s store at 4701 West 6th Street.

Throughout the years, Oberzan has maintained an active role in the Lawrence community, serving as a member of both the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and the Lawrence Breakfast Cosmopolitan Club. He is active with Junior Achievement in the area and takes part in the Business / Education Partnership at Prairie Park Elementary. Oberzan also serves as a Hospitality Minister and Usher at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and volunteers each year to deliver Thanksgiving meals to Lawrence residents.

"Joe is a terrific example of the strong and steady leadership that has helped guide Capitol Federal in the Lawrence community over the years," remarked Chairman Dicus. "He has been an integral part of our growth in the area, and his service and expertise have benefitted countless customers, as well as fellow employees. We have certainly been lucky to have had Joe on our team."

An open house honoring Oberzan will be held on Wednesday, January 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Iowa and Harvard location.
