Capitol Federal's 120th Year of True Blue® Service

TOPEKA, Kan. – During Capitol Federal’s ribbon cutting ceremony held Tuesday, March 4, for its 47th office, 4th in the greater Kansas City Metro area at 4242 Main Street in Midtown, Capitol Federal® Foundation presented a large replica check of an $8,700 gift to Operation Breakthrough, Kansas City, MO. Susan Stanton, CEO of Operation Breakthrough, accepted the check from Brian Bruns, vice president-branch manager of Capitol Federal’s Midtown branch.

Bruns stated, “Capitol Federal is pleased to provide this gift to Operation Breakthrough in recognition of Capitol Federal’s newest True Blue® location.  With our move into the Midtown, Capitol Federal wanted to make an impact, and what better way than to support the children. As a part of the Midtown community, we are happy to extend this gift to further Operation Breakthrough facility improvements, including outdoor playground equipment, indoor play equipment and medical kits. This gift is in appreciation of all Operation Breakthrough does in helping our local children, providing them with an excellent start in quality care and education, thus furthering the development of an even stronger Midtown community.”

Stanton remarked, “We are excited to be the beneficiary of this generous gift, helping provide our children with a safe, fun-filled facility, one that allows our children to develop their motor and social skills. We thank Capitol Federal for your generous support, a gift that will serve the community and further our mission ‘to help build our future…one child at a time’.”

About Operation Breakthrough: A nationally accredited, not-for-profit corporation, it began in 1971 by Sister Corita Bussanmas and Sister Berta Sailer as a response to requests from parents in the central city for quality child care for children of the working poor. Its mission is to help children who are living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving, and educational environment. The center also strives to support and empower the children's families through advocacy, referral services and emergency aid.
