Capitol Federal's 120th Year of True Blue® Service

TOPEKA, Kan. – In honor of more than 40 years in the Manhattan community, Capitol Federal® held an open house at its two locations – 1401 Poyntz and 705 Commons Place – during the week of December 2 – 6, 2013. At the conclusion of its promotion, Capitol Federal drew the name of Michelle Huslig of Manhattan to win the opportunity to celebrate the season with Dinner for Eight at Harry’s.  As the winner, she also had the opportunity to share with the community by extending a $500 gift from Capitol Federal in her honor to her favorite local 501(c)3 organization, upon approval by Capitol Federal. What better holiday gift to give to oneself and to one’s favorite 501(c)3 non-profit organization! Her choice was the Riley County Humane Society. On Monday, December 16, at the Capitol Federal 1401 Poyntz location, Felicia Benedetto of the Riley County Humane Society accepted a replica check for $500 from Michelle Huslig and Capitol Federal representatives, 1401 Poyntz Vice President-Branch Manager Peggy Frazier and 1401 Poyntz Assistant Branch Manager Krystal Dekat.

During the announcement and presentation, Dekat said, “Capitol Federal is so pleased to say thank you to the Manhattan community for more than 40 years of trust and loyalty toward the Bank. We are thrilled to present our “Celebrate & Share” gifts to our winner, Michelle Huslig, and to her favorite 501(c)3 organization, the Riley County Humane Society. It has been a wonderful anniversary, and we are happy to celebrate the season with a gift for our winner and a dedicated non-profit organization that makes a real difference.”

Huslig remarked, “With the help of my children, we chose the Riley County Humane Society to receive Capitol Federal’s $500 gift. We have always rescued animals, and there are so many animals in need. We thank the Riley County Humane Society for their dedication and volunteerism in helping meet the needs of rescued animals. We also thank Capitol Federal for providing me the opportunity to present this gift to the Riley County Humane Society. Capitol Federal has set an excellent example in the community during this season of giving.”

On behalf of the Riley County Humane Society, Benedetto expressed her appreciation for the gift, stating, “This is such a wonderful gift to receive at this time of year. When it begins to turn cold, our furry friends need so much to stay warm and healthy. This gift will go far in accomplishing these goals. Thank you, Chelle and Capitol Federal, for your generous gift.”
