Capitol Federal's 120th Year of True Blue® Service
TOPEKA, Kan. – Capitol Federal® and its employees adopted more than 150 individuals for Christmas this year through the United Way of Greater Topeka’s Christmas Bureau program. Combining employee contributions and a grant from the Capitol Federal® Foundation, Capitol Federal raised more than $11,000.00 to benefit the Christmas Bureau in Topeka. Led by Kelli Nicks, Debra Shore, Kathleen O’Connor, Stephanie Flood, Jennifer Konrad, Clint Schrenk and Frank Wright – and joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus – employees purchased and wrapped gifts for families throughout Topeka, delivering them with Christmas cheer.
Employees in Manhattan and Lawrence raised funds and delivered gifts to area families through the Junior League of the Flint Hills Adopt-a-Family in Manhattan and the Angel Tree with HeadStart Children’s Center, Lawrence. Emporia employees adopted two ladies from SOS, providing clothing, small appliances, towels and other gifts. Greater Kansas City and Greater Wichita employees also delivered gifts to several families through various agencies.
“Capitol Federal and its employees truly cherish the opportunity each year to adopt families as a part of their Christmas tradition,” remarked Capitol Federal Chairman John B. Dicus. “Raising funds, purchasing and wrapping the gifts and delivering them mark a joyous time at the bank. We are proud to work with United Way and other local agencies. Working together for others is what community is all about. All of us at Capitol Federal are excited to share the spirit of giving with families during this special season.”
