Capitol Federal's 119th Year of True Blue® Service
During this Thanksgiving holiday, Capitol Federal employees supplied traditional Thanksgiving meals to more than 250 families in the communities where the Bank's offices are located. The meals were purchased with grant money provided by the Capitol Federal Foundation. In Topeka, fifty meals were delivered on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The list of families was provided by Let's Help.
The delicatessens of local participating grocery stores prepared the turkey dinners, complete with potatoes, other vegetables, stuffing and dessert. Capitol Federal partnered with the following agencies in order to furnish meals to local families in the Bank’s various communities:
Topeka: Let’s Help
Greater Kansas City/Johnson County/Olathe: Gardner Multi-Service Center, Synergy Services, El Centro, Community Housing of Wyandotte County, Guadalupe Center, TLC, Blue Hills Community Center, Northland Neighborhoods, Inc., HeadStart of Overland Park, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, Argentine Neighborhood Association
Lawrence: Ballard Center and Head Start
Emporia: Salvation Army
Manhattan: Flint Hills Breadbasket
Salina: Heartland Healthy Families
Wichita: Communities in School and Boys and Girls Club
Capitol Federal’s Chairman John B. Dicus stated, "Families gathering to share a meal is always a central part of the holiday season, and our employees take pleasure in being able to make that family time enjoyable for others each Thanksgiving."
