Capitol Federal's 118th Year of True Blue® Service

During a special recognition ceremony held on Sunday, May 22 at Prairie Park Elementary School, 2711 Kensington Road, Capitol Federal joined Prairie Park in honoring its students. Since 1995, Capitol Federal and Prairie Park have served as Partners in Education, working together to enhance the educational skills and development of the students.
Capitol Federal representatives, Betty Hernandez and Barent Raye, joined Prairie Park Principal David Williams in presenting the awards. With both 5th and 6th grade classes moving on to middle school next fall, awards were given to the Outstanding 5th and 6th Grade Students, one boy and one girl from each grade level. Award winners include:
Outstanding 5th Grade Students of the Year:
Boy: Peyton Garvin
Girl: Leah Marett
Outstanding 6th Grade Students of the Year:
Boy: Cameron Stussie
Girl: Skylar Drum
Williams expressed his appreciation at having Capitol Federal as an educational partner. "We thank Capitol Federal for all their support throughout the year," he remarked. "Our faculty, students and parents recognize the contribution Capitol Federal and its volunteers make to the education of our youth. We appreciate all they have done during the more than 15 years of our partnership in education."
Throughout the school year, Capitol Federal employees volunteer their time working with Kindergarten through sixth grade students to help improve their math, social studies and reading ability. The volunteers also participate in several events during the year, such as the carnival, book fair, family reading night and student recognition at the graduation ceremony.
