Capitol Federal® Presents Henry A. Bubb Distinguished Service Award

April 29, 2011
Capitol Federal's 118th Year of True Blue® Service

Capitol Federal Chairman John B. Dicus announced Tara VanHouweling, First Vice President, as the 2010 recipient of the Bank’s highest recognition, the Henry A. Bubb Distinguished Service Award. This award, named in honor of Capitol Federal's longtime Chairman, is presented annually to one employee or officer who demonstrates the leadership qualities of the late Mr. Bubb.

VanHouweling began her Capitol Federal career in May 2003 as the Bank’s Financial Reporting Director.  An Iowa native, she is a 1995 graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, having earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting.

Executive Vice President Kent Townsend, VanHouweling’s supervisor, states:  "During fiscal year 2010 Capitol Federal worked to become a full public company.  This required seven SEC filings, with the last four required within a two-month time period from start to finish, while adjusting to new SEC reporting requirements related to these filings.  These were completed on time in addition to meeting all other reporting requirements, without additional staff, but with a huge commitment of Tara's personal time and the leadership and support provided to her staff.  Tara worked with internal staff, attorneys and investment bankers to meet everyone’s needs and expectations."

VanHouweling is a member of the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

"Tara was key to Capitol Federal's success in becoming a full public company," Chairman Dicus concluded. "Tara's commitment to the Bank and its customers and to Capitol Federal Financial and its shareholders is demonstrated daily, and during fiscal year 2010, she went above and beyond all expectations.  We could not have accomplished our goal without her perseverance and leadership.  Her work reflects the leadership Henry Bubb exerted during his long, distinguished Capitol Federal career.  The Capitol Federal board, senior management and all employees congratulate Tara on a job well done.  I know Henry Bubb would proudly applaud the selection of Tara VanHouweling to receive the award named in his honor."
